Why a "YES" Vote Matters!

On November 8, 2022, Cook County residents will be asked to vote on the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Wildlife Habitat Protection Referendum to bring more resources to the Forest Preserves. If approved, new funding would be used to expand and improve the benefits of the Forest Preserves.

The forest preserves are an integral part of our community and contribute to our quality of life. They play an important role in helping to protect water and air quality, as well as habitat for wildlife. They give residents of all ages a place to explore nature, be active and healthy, and provide job and scholarship opportunities in communities throughout the county.

If passed the referendum will result in a property tax increase of 0.0025%, which amounts to less than $1.66/month for the majority of homeowners.

The League is a member of a broad coalition that supports the referendum. It appears in the middle of the ballot, at the end of ballot card 84-A
